Volunteer With Us
Make a Difference, One Step at a Time
Volunteers are the heart of Welcome House, helping to create a supportive and encouraging environment for the men in our recovery program. Whether you’re looking to give back to the community, use your skills to help others, or simply lend a helping hand, we have opportunities for everyone.
How You Can Help:
- Lead a Workshop or Class: Share your expertise in art, music, cooking, fitness, or another skill to inspire and engage our residents.
- Help with Events: Support our fundraising events or help organize group outings to build connections and create memorable experiences.
- Be a Recovery Coach: Change lives by offering one-on-one guidance, encouragement, or professional advice. As a recovery coach, you can provide crucial support, helping residents navigate their recovery journey with confidence and accountability.
- General Support: Assist with administrative tasks, facility projects, or organizing donations.

Donate Stock
Why Donate Shares?
- Capital gains increases in value of securities over the original purchase price and are taxable with the tax rate depending on how long ago you purchase said stock.
- When you sell the shares and donate the cash proceeds, you still have to pay the capital gains tax. But you simply donate the shares directly to Welcome house, no taxes need to be paid. We will send you a tax receipt for the fair market value of the securities.
- This gives you both a tax break AND a tax receipt!
How Do I Donate Shares?
Your broker can send shares directly from your account to our broker. For formal instructions, please get in touch with Micah Haen at micahhaen@welcomehousekc.org.
Leave a Gift in Your Will
Your legacy gift will fund our critical recovery and relapse prevention work for years, supporting individuals’ journey to recovery and enhancing community safety.
How Can I Make A Legacy Gift?
