A COMMUNITY CAMPAIGN FOR A NEW WELCOME HOUSE WOMEN RECOVERY CENTER

Welcome House Women – Rick Fleenor Family Recovery Center

Greater Kansas City's only long-term residential Sober Living Recovery Program for Women

Proven Recovery Meets Purposeful Design for Women

Welcome House Women will be a 40-bed residential drug and alcohol recovery center providing a safe, structured environment with evidence-based treatment alongside supportive services to foster lasting recovery.

Located at 818 Ann Avenue in Kansas City, KS, the 15,000 square foot facility will mirror our men’s center in quality, design standards, and functionality while fully implementing the same evidence-based programs, practices, and operational model that produce our exceptional outcomes.

Amenities include:

  • Areas for secure intake and trauma-informed women-focused programming.
  • Multi-purpose spaces for recovery meetings, Welcome House University classes, peer support, and mentorship.
  • Meeting areas for 1:1 peer counseling, emergency and rehabilitative jobs placement, community and family visits.

Built on the proven foundation of the Welcome House Men’s program – one that has transformed lives in our community for 55 years – the program will apply this trusted model to the unique needs of women seeking a healthy, productive life in sobriety.

CAMPAIGN BUDGET

Beyond renovations and furnishings, the $6.5M community campaign is designed to not just open the doors but to sustain what happens within. The campaign goal includes funds to support two years of operations as Welcome House Women scales to full occupancy, staffing, and builds awareness and revenue streams.

Hope Can’t Wait!

The Urgent Need for a Women’s Recovery Center

Wyandotte County and Metro KC lack recovery capital for women – long-term residential recovery options, social support, housing, and employment. Combined with a surge in opioid-related fatalities and systemic gaps in support, there is a clear and urgent need for trauma-informed, wraparound programs tailored to adult women.

Since 2020, Kansas City, KS authorities have documented a 146% increase in overall overdose deaths. National patterns suggest that women are impacted at a higher rate due to stigma, legal fears, and a general lack of Substance Use Disorder services.

Our community faces a critical gap in recovery services for women. The Welcome House Women Recovery Center will fill this void, providing a safe, supportive path for women to heal, rebuild, and lead healthy, productive lives.

Designed to improve outcomes, safety, and long-term recovery.

Welcome House Women is a 40-bed long-term residential drug and alcohol recovery center providing a safe, structured environment for adult women.

Residents receive a customized, evidence-based recovery plan for drug and alcohol use with a focus on accountability, education, and encouragement.

Wrap-around services strengthen the recovery experience alongside our core  program, supporting personal growth, skill building, and overall well-being.

Employment programs connect each resident with resources critical to her recovery journey, promoting  responsibility, community, and productivity.
