The Urgent Need for a Women’s Recovery Center
Wyandotte County and Metro KC lack recovery capital for women – long-term residential recovery options, social support, housing, and employment. Combined with a surge in opiod-related fatalities and systemic gaps in support, there is a clear and urgent need for trauma-informed, wraparound programs tailored to adult women.
Since 2020, Kansas City, KS authorities have documented a 146% increase in overall overdose deaths. National patterns suggest that women are impacted at a higher rate due to stigma, legal fears, and a general lack of Substance Use Disorder services.
Our community faces a critical gap in recovery services for women. The Welcome House Women Recovery Center will fill this void, providing a safe, supportive path for women to heal, rebuild, and lead healthy, productive lives.
Designed to improve outcomes, safety, and long-term recovery.
